• “Moong Chilka” refers to split green gram with the green husk still intact. In the process of making Moong Chilka, green gram is split but not dehusked completely, leaving the outer green covering on the lentils. This green husk adds a slightly nutty flavor and a bit more texture to the lentils compared to the husk-free, yellow Moong Dhuli (split green gram).
